Job summary

St. Vincent de Paul in Phoenix seeks a full-time Shift Supervisor to oversee a shelter and transitional housing program. You will lead service coordinators, supervise volunteers, and coordinate daily activities, meals, and sleeping area transitions to ensure a safe, welcoming environment for residents.

You will collaborate with security, case management, and community partners to address needs, manage crises, and maintain logs and documentation across multiple systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1+ year working with vulnerable populations in a shelter or similar environment.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, internet navigation, and the ability to learn new databases quickly.
• Current Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card (Washington Street Shelter).
• Physical: ability to stand, walk, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform other tasks on various shifts.

Responsibilities

• Lead service coordinators to maintain a calm, safe, supportive environment on shift.
• Provide daily guidance and monitor adherence to policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
• Collaborate with security and staff to respond to emergencies and document them.
• Oversee shift activities: intake/discharge, meals, supplies, and sleeping area transitions.
• Maintain accurate shift logs and incident reports in office software and agency databases.
• Ensure cleanliness and safety of dormitories and communal areas; address sanitation or emergency cleanups.
• Coordinate volunteers and foster a welcoming environment for community contributors.
• Attend staff meetings and agency events to stay aligned with shelter goals.
