Job summary

Westhab Inc. is seeking a Safety Security Officer to ensure the safety and security of clients, staff, and the shelter property. The position operates in a 24-hour facility with mandated overtime, reporting to the Shift Supervisor and Security Manager. It is a full-time role across NYC shelters.

Qualifications include a NYS Security Guard License and 8-Hour Annual Certificate; CPI certification is a plus. Strong communication skills and crisis-intervention abilities are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must have NYS Security Guard License and current 8-Hour Annual Certificate.
• Fire Guard License for Shelters preferred (F02).
• Certified in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) preferred.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, weekends, and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections of clients' rooms.
• Escort clients to appointments as needed.
• Monitor clients' behavior and provide excellent customer service.
• Control access at the main entrance and screen visitors.
• Conduct crisis intervention and document incidents.
• Make hourly rounds throughout the facility.
• Respond to incidents and assist with client intakes.
• Complete logs and incident reports, coordinate with first responders.
• Perform receptionist duties and monitor security equipment.
• Support fire safety procedures and evacuations when required.
