Job summary

Westhab, Inc. is hiring a Shift Supervisor for our NYC homeless shelter. The role supervises security staff on a 24-hour facility, performs routine safety checks, and responds to incidents to protect staff and clients.

The position requires a High School Diploma or GED, 1–2 years of supervisory experience, NYS Security Guard License, Fire Guard License F80, and CPI certification. Overtime is mandatory, and familiarity with CARES and DHS shelter protocols is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1-2 years of Supervisor experience required.
• NYS Security Guard License and Fire Guard License F80 required.
• Certified in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI).
• General knowledge of security systems.

Responsibilities

• Train new security officers and residential aides.
• Supervise security staff during shifts and assign duties.
• Monitor access control, magnetometer, and x-ray use.
• Respond to incidents and manage crises to protect staff and clients.
• Perform rounds to detect hazards, trespass, and illegal activities.
• Respond to emergencies and provide guidance to staff.
• Conduct daily security and fire safety inspections.
• Maintain safety and security of clients and staff.
• Assist Security Manager in fire drills.
• Oversee property packing for AWOL families.
• Log and review incidents with accurate reporting.
• Attend meetings and trainings as needed.
• Check equipment inventory daily.
