Job summary

Volunteers of America Los Angeles (VOALA) is seeking a Lead Monitor I to supervise shelter security, monitor client safety, and lead safety training for staff. The role requires coordinating shifts, enforcing rules, and maintaining secure premises for program participants.

Responsibilities include escorting participants, screening entrants, and reporting incidents. Must pass background checks; driving duties and a California driver’s license are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must pass fingerprint clearance and background check.
• One year of college coursework or Careers for a Cause certificate.
• CA driver’s license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Arrange, coordinate, supervise, mentor, and oversee Monitors’ efforts to provide safety for participants, staff, and premises.
• Train Monitors in safety, program operations, and security expectations.
• Oversee safety practices, lead safety initiatives, and maintain security of doors, windows, and entrances.
• Monitor shelter entrance and screen bags and persons entering shelter.
• Drive-related duties: transporting participants and assisting with mobility devices as needed.
• Complete written reports and incident logs of daily activities and irregularities.
