Job summary

Westhab is seeking a Safety Security Officer for Van Cortlandt Park, Bronx. The role focuses on ensuring safety and security for clients, staff, and our facility, reporting to the Shift Supervisor and Security Manager.

Certification requirements include NYS Security Guard License and Fire Guard for shelters, with CPI certification preferred. The position demands flexible shifts, weekend and overtime availability, and readiness to respond to emergencies while maintaining professional customer

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must have NYS Security Guard License and current 8 Hour Annual Certificate; Fire Guard License for Shelters.
• Certified in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections of all clients’ rooms.
• Escort clients to appointments as needed.
• Interact with clients and maintain rapport while enforcing facility policy.
• Screen visitors at main entrance to prevent weapons entry.
• Respond to incidents and de-escalate crises.
• Make hourly rounds throughout the facility.
• Complete logs and incident reports.
