Job summary

Westhab is seeking a Safety Security Officer for the Evening Shift at Intervale, Bronx. The role involves ensuring safety and security for clients, staff, and facility property in a 24-hour homeless shelter; relief with mandated overtime and reporting to the Shift Supervisor and Security Manager.

Requirements include a NYS Security Guard License, 8-Hour Annual Certificate, high school diploma or GED, and strong communication skills. Fire Guard preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• NYS Security Guard License and 8-Hour Annual Certificate required.
• Fire Guard License for Shelters preferred (F02).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
• Must be able to work flexible shifts, weekends, and overtime if necessary.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections of all clients’ rooms.
• Escort clients to appointments as needed.
• Monitor clients' behavior and de-escalate crises while maintaining good rapport.
• Control access at the main entrance and screen visitors.
• Make hourly rounds throughout the facility and respond to incidents.
• Assist with client intakes and property logging.
