The Salvation Army is seeking a dedicated shelter assistant to help maintain safety and comfort for clients in a Salvation Army emergency shelter and inclement weather shelter. You will monitor client behavior, assist with intake, distribute essentials, and perform light housekeeping to keep areas clean and orderly.

This on-site role requires ability to read and communicate in English, a basic high school education or GED, and preferably one year of security or social service experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred; equivalent training/experience acceptable.
• 1 year experience in security or social service preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.

Responsabilités

• Monitors shelter clients for safety and compliance with house rules.
• Prepares sleeping and dining areas before opening and maintains orderly intake lines.
• Conducts client intake and census at prescribed times.
• Distributes blankets and personal items; performs light housekeeping.
• Maintains incident and emergency logs.
• Responds quickly and calmly to emergencies.
