Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a Shelter/Housing Attendant to assist residents overnight in a shelter setting. The role involves enforcing house rules, conducting client intake, and maintaining orderly facilities while ensuring safety and compliance with policies.

The position requires strong English communication, data entry, and the ability to respond to emergencies calmly. Responsibilities include building security, intake and discharge processes, housekeeping tasks, and managing supplies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One year experience performing security or social service work preferred.
• Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Building Security Responsibilities: enforce house rules, inspect baggage, record incidents, secure facilities, operate alarms, ensure safety and security.
• Intake and Discharge Responsibilities: answer calls, perform client intake, orient new clients, prepare case records, conduct checks, manage rosters and daily statistics.
• Housekeeping and Chore Distribution Responsibilities: assign and supervise daily chores, assist in cleaning and maintenance, ensure standard compliance, manage property accountability.
