Job summary

The Salvation Army in Peoria, IL is seeking a Shelter Aide for Emergency Shelter Services to support daily shelter operations and client care. You will perform intakes, enter data into HMIS, and assist in meeting basic needs for program participants.

The role requires flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed, with a focus on safety and compassionate service within the Safety Net program.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience in compassionate care preferred; five years is an asset.
• Pass pre-employment background check and driver’s license verification.

Responsibilities

• Deliver services in Safety Net Men’s Shelter to assess client needs and complete intake.
• Enforce program guidelines and provide conflict resolution with respect and understanding.
• Create a safe, secure, and compassionate environment; assist emergency responders if needed.
• Oversee facility activities ensuring smooth service delivery and coordination with case managers.
• Document participant information and progress in HMIS and SIMS.
• Maintain compliance with Safe from Harm certification; attend trainings and meetings.
