Job summary

The Bowery Residents' Committee is hiring a Shift Supervisor in New York, overseeing frontline staff and daily shelter operations to ensure safety, security, and compliance with policies.

You will supervise Community Technicians, maintain records, respond to incidents, and participate in weekly leadership meetings. A High School Diploma or GED is required; a Bachelor's degree is preferred, with experience in homeless services and supervisory roles valued.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience working in homeless shelters or similar settings preferred.
• At least one year of supervisory or lead experience preferred.
• Knowledge of addiction and recovery processes.
• Strong computer literacy and documentation skills.
• First Aid and Fire Safety certifications required (or willingness to obtain).
• CPR certification required (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Supervise Community Technicians and operations support staff
• Oversee daily shelter operations, ensuring safety, security, and fire safety compliance
• Ensure staff follow all agency policies, procedures, and documentation standards
• Review and maintain accurate records, reports, and clinical notes
• Respond to incidents and provide guidance to staff as needed
• Participate in weekly program and leadership meetings
• Provide emergency First Aid/CPR assistance when required
• Perform related duties as assigned
