Job summary

The Salvation Army in La Crosse is seeking a Shelter Supervisor to oversee client intake, maintain safety, and provide supportive services within the shelter. You will conduct intake interviews, monitor room assignments, supervise residents and volunteers, and coordinate with the case manager as needed.

De-escalation and crisis response are essential, along with keeping the shelter clean and documenting shift activities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with the homeless population desirable.

Responsibilities

• Conducts intake interviews for new shelter residents.
• Monitors room assignments and distributes basic necessities.
• Provides necessary supervision of shelter and residents, assuring that rules and policies are being followed.
• Assist with client need, refer to case manager as appropriate.
• Provide de-escalation and crisis response.
• Answers telephone calls, taking messages when appropriate.
• Maintain cleanliness of shelter common areas.
• Assist with food service preparations and serving.
• Ensures shift is documented according to procedures.
• Performs room inspections.
• Supervises volunteers, when assigned.
