Job summary

Children's Rescue Fund is seeking a Residential Aide to provide direct care and support for clients in the Bronx shelter. Under the Shift Supervisor, you will help manage daily operations and enforce shelter rules, ensuring a safe environment for residents and staff.

The role requires an NYS security license, a high school diploma or GED, and experience in homeless services. You will work full-time, with varied hours and mandatory overtime as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Two years' experience in single adult shelters or congregate services.
  • Experience with families and the homeless population.
  • Food Protection Certification and CPR/First Aid required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Complete intake packets and log daily occupancy forms.
  • Utilize DHS CARES for intake check-in and discharge processes.
  • Review nightly attendance rosters and incident reports.
  • Receive deliveries, verify items and sign receipts.
  • Distribute meals and manage food safety per guidelines.
  • Monitor attendance logs and assist with room access.
  • Perform safety checks, report distress to medical staff.
  • Rotate shifts as needed and maintain clean, organized spaces.

Education

High School Diploma or GED
Food Protection Certification
CPR/First Aid
Two years' experience in shelters
Experience with families / homeless population
Excellent written and oral communication
Word & Excel proficiency
