Job summary

Children’s Rescue Fund is seeking a Residential Aide in New York, NY to provide direct support and care for residents in the shelter. You will work under the Shift Supervisor, handling intake, meal distribution, and daily operations at the Belnord location.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 2+ years in shelters, and certifications in Food Protection and CPR/First Aid. Strong communication, teamwork, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least 2 years in shelters or congregate residential services.
• Experience with families/homeless population.
• Food Protection certification and CPR/First Aid certification.
• Background investigation must be satisfactory.
• Excellent written and oral communication; strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient in Word and Excel; able to learn new systems.

Responsibilities

• Complete new resident intake arrival packets, exits logs, and daily occupancy forms.
• Utilize CARES for intake check-ins and discharge conditional intakes.
• Review the Nightly Attendance Roster and incident reports.
• Receive food deliveries and verify items against receipts.
• Distribute meals to residents and ensure proper disposal of expired items.
• Monitor logs to confirm residents sign the Daily Attendance Roster.
• Provide access to rooms and assist with room transfers/swaps.
• Distribute DHS notices to residents and maintain clean workspace.
• Bag and tag client belongings; report room repairs as needed.
• Conduct hourly facility rounds to secure doors and belongings.
• Perform safety checks and alert staff of any distress.
• Rotate shifts as needed and maintain all required logs monthly.
