Job summary

Gulfstream Goodwill Industries seeks a per diem Shelter Associate to welcome guests and support daily operations at the facility. The role emphasizes trauma-informed care, de-escalation, safety, and helping guests access amenities and participate in activities.

Responsibilities include managing weekend/evening phone lines, reviewing procedures, escorting guests, maintaining logs, and assisting with medication logs with LPNs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent verbal communication skills and good written communication skills.
• Excellent people skills.
• One year experience in a residential setting and/or two years of customer service.
• Demonstrated ability to use sound judgment and take direction.
• Individuals who are formerly homeless encouraged to apply.
• Ability to work in a team environment and handle a wide variety of people.
• Ability to function well in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Orient guests to facility and personal areas and assist with activities.
• Create a welcoming environment for guests.
• Implement trauma-informed care principles.
• Utilize de-escalation to manage guest conflicts.
• Manage weekend and evening phone lines.
• Review arrival/departure procedures with guests.
• Escort guests within the facility and grounds.
• Monitor guest safety and security during waits and residence.
• Assist with entering items and maintaining medication logs with LPNs.
• Maintain logs and document incidents and infractions.
• Support inclusion for LGBTQ and other vulnerable communities.
• Keep common areas welcoming and assist with chores for events.
• Complete trainings within 6 months of hire.
• Participate in meetings and special projects as requested.
