Job summary

Gulfstream Goodwill Industries in West Palm Beach, FL seeks a weekend and as-needed Shelter Supervisor to lead shelter operations. You will supervise staff, ensure coverage, and uphold Housing First and trauma-informed practices to maintain a safe, respectful environment for participants and staff.

The role requires strong communication, incident management, and the ability to coordinate with leadership and emergency services.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years in shelter or homelessness services; prior lead or supervisory experience preferred.
• Education: High school diploma or GED required; degrees preferred in related fields.
• Knowledge of Housing First, trauma-informed care, and de-escalation.
• Strong written and verbal communication; accurate documentation and reports.
• Willingness to work weekends, holidays, evenings, and as-needed shifts; valid FL driver's license may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision and support to shelter staff during weekend, holiday, evening, and as-needed shifts.
• Ensure shift coverage and manage staffing changes; escalate issues to the Shelter Director.
• Promote a warm, trauma-informed shelter environment and low-barrier access.
• Monitor compliance with policies, safety protocols, and incident procedures.
• Respond to incidents and coordinate with leadership, law enforcement, EMS, or facilities.
• Complete and review incident reports, shift logs, and guest notes.
• Conduct regular walk-throughs and report urgent maintenance needs.
• Provide coaching and feedback; escalate performance or conduct issues.
• Support staff training, CPR/Narcan/First Aid readiness.
• Communicate end-of-shift updates to leadership.
