Job summary

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or HS diploma plus 1 year of related experience.
  • Experience with addicted and mentally ill populations preferred.
  • Experience with diverse ethnic, racial, and low-income populations required.
  • Bi-lingual/Spanish speaking preferred.
  • Valid MA driver’s license and good driving record; license within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures overall safety of guests and shelter environment; performs rounds and searches for contraband on arrival.
  • Intervenes to de-escalate conflict situations and prevent crises.
  • Develops positive professional relationships with guests to facilitate care.
  • Maintains stable environment by enforcing rules and individual service plans.
  • Monitors and serves meals, coordinates supplies, and supervises cleanup; distributes linen and clothing.
  • Attends required meetings and training sessions.
  • Provides phone coverage as necessary.
  • Performs administrative tasks such as maintaining records, recording log notes and data entry.
  • Performs other duties as required.
