Job summary

Good Shepherd – Mary’s Place in Ontario is seeking a Permanent Full-Time housing support worker to assist residential and non-residential clients. The role includes case management, crisis intervention and supportive counseling in a values-based shelter environment.

You will develop and maintain a caseload, complete intake assessments and ensure confidentiality while following health and safety rules. A post-secondary credential is required; CPR and a valid Ontario driver’s license are assets;

Qualifications

• Completed post-secondary education in a related field.
• Knowledge of issues affecting cis women, trans and non-binary individuals (violence, abuse, homelessness, substance use).
• Experience working in a residential setting.
• Commitment to mission values: availability, flexibility, adaptability, hospitality and dignity.
• CPR certification (or willingness to certify).
• Valid Ontario driver’s license (G) is an asset.
• Flexible schedule.
• Ability to speak French and/or other languages considered an asset.
• Committed to anti-racist/anti-oppressive practice.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a caseload.
• Complete an intake and assessment on each resident.
• Design interview schedule to evaluate quality of life improvements.
• Maintain confidentiality with regards to clients/staff and Centre's records.
• Observe health and safety rules under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
