Job summary

Project Renewal, a leading nonprofit in New York City, is hiring a Residential Aide to support residents in our Homeless Shelters across the Bronx, Brooklyn and Manhattan.

The role involves monitoring residents, assisting with daily living activities, coordinating meals, documenting incidents, and collaborating with case managers to ensure safety and supportive services. Evening and overnight shifts are available, with weekend work required; HS diploma and experience preferred.

Qualifications

• A High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of experience working with homeless mentally ill adults or other special needs population.
• Excellent oral, writing and listening skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel) and computer literate.
• Bilingual or multilingual a plus.

Responsibilities

• Monitors residents' day-to-day on-site activities.
• Inspects the facility and surroundings hourly and reports incidents.
• Assists in organizing recreational activities, events and outings.
• Wakes clients, provides clothing and personal care items.
• Ensures clients are out of dormitories per policy.
• Reminds clients of daily schedules and assists with daily living skills.
• Processes intake, bed assignment, census records, and reports daily census figures.
• Watches personal property and inventories belongings.
• Observes client behavior and reports to case management staff.
• Oversees shelter at night and responds to requests from awake clients.
• Collaborates with Program Aides/Case Manager for crisis intervention.
• Completes electronic shift summaries and incident reports.
• Assists in cafeteria with meals at breakfast, lunch and dinner.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Residential Aide Supervisor.
