Job summary

SHELTER, Inc. in Martinez, CA is seeking a Shelter Attendant for the Mountain View Family Shelter. This full-time, hourly role supports daily participant needs, safety, and facility upkeep in a 32-family setting.

You will manage meals, inventory, and interactions with visitors, volunteers, and staff, while contributing to a stable, supportive community for families rebuilding their lives.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience working with low-income and/or homeless populations.
• Must have or obtain and maintain ServSafe certification.

Responsibilities

• Monitor facility safety and conduct rounds every 30-60 minutes.
• Identify hazards and respond to emergencies and drills.
• Maintain sign-in/out sheets for participants and guests.
• Clean and inventory the facility and assist with supplies.
• Assist with donations and sort items per policy.
• Support guest volunteers, orient volunteers, and conduct tours.
• Perform administrative tasks such as data entry and document creation.
