Job summary

Bay Area Turning Point is seeking a Resident Advocate for the evening shift at the Webster shelter. The role covers crisis intervention, safety, and service delivery to residents during assigned hours.

Responsibilities include guiding residents on shelter rules, maintaining confidentiality, managing donations, and coordinating with staff to ensure a safe, clean environment. Candidates must meet background checks and driving requirements.

Qualifications

  • Requires a minimum of a 4-year degree in Social Work or related field.
  • Must pass criminal background check, motor vehicle report, and reference checks.
  • Must have a clean driving record and automobile insurance; at least three years driving experience.
  • Ability to lift/carry/move a minimum of 40 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide crisis intervention to residents and hotline callers.
  • Oversee safety and welfare during shift.
  • Orient residents to shelter guidelines and ensure adherence.
  • Maintain confidentiality of records and location.
  • Handle donations—accept, record, and store properly.
  • Attend shelter and staff meetings.
  • Oversee shelter cleanliness and reassign chores as needed.
  • Submit maintenance requests for equipment/building repairs.
  • Check call notes and retrieve client messages.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
