Job summary

The Family Place seeks a dedicated Resident Advocate to support survivors in safe housing environments. You will provide compassionate, non-judgmental emotional support, help with daily living tasks, and coordinate with case managers to ensure timely intake, safety planning, and access to essential services.

As a frontline representative, you will maintain a secure, welcoming shelter, monitor client well-being, and assist with transportation and crisis response, empowering families to rebuild

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in psychology, social work, sociology, or related field is required.
• Experience in residential shelters or similar setting is preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish may be required for some roles.

Responsibilities

• Provide emotional support to residents and respond with active listening and non-judgmental communication.
• Collaborate with Case Managers and staff to update service plans and report client needs.
• Intervene in crises using de-escalation techniques to ensure safety of residents.
• Complete intake reviews, shelter tours, and assist with initial client needs within 24 hours.
• Assist with basic life skills and daily living activities.
• Support residents in safety planning, exits, transportation, and follow-up services.
