Job summary

The Family Place in Dallas is seeking a Resident Advocate to create a safe, supportive environment for survivors of family violence as they rebuild their lives.

You will provide emotional support, assist with intakes and safety planning, maintain shelter safety and cleanliness, and coordinate with Case Managers to meet clients’ needs. Bilingual English/Spanish and a valid Texas driver’s license are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, sociology, or related field with 6 months experience in a residential facility or shelter.
• An associate degree with any equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Bilingual English/Spanish may be required for some roles.

Responsibilities

• Provide emotional support to residents through active listening and non-judgmental communication.
• Collaborate with Case Managers and staff on client service updates and needs.
• Intervene in crisis situations using approved de-escalation methods to ensure safety.
• Communicate pertinent client situations to supervisor.
• Assist with intakes, safety planning, and scheduling transportation.
• Assist with basic life skills, daily planning, and hygiene.
• Monitor shelter safety and cleanliness; perform light housekeeping tasks.
• Transport clients using the company vehicle as needed.
• Support volunteers and co-facilitate meetings and activities.
