Job summary

Kelly Services is seeking a Set-Up Technician to join a premier manufacturing client in Spring Lake, MI. This role focuses on start-ups, changeovers, and operating extrusion lines to minimize scrap and downtime.

You will perform tooling changes, set up dies, manage lamination and cutting equipment, and support continuous improvement in a safe, 6S workplace. A high school diploma or GED and manufacturing experience are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Manufacturing/extrusion setup experience preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform start-ups and changeovers of production runs to minimize scrap and downtime.
• Set up and operate Single, Dual, and Tri Extrusion production lines.
• Complete multiple tooling changes during an 8-hour shift.
• Install, adjust, and troubleshoot various die types, including Streamline, Flat Back, and Button dies.
• Set up and monitor lamination systems (PSA and HATS).
• Operate and adjust in-line cutting equipment (Fly Knife, Cutter, Saws, Guillotine, Rotary).
• Perform in-line punching, laser marking, and inkjet printing operations.
• Respond to Andon board requests to support production and minimize downtime.
• Assist with troubleshooting and training to ensure customer needs are met.
• Participate in continuous improvement and maintain a 6S clean, safe work area.

Salary/Pay Rate/Compensation:

$20.00 – $23.00 per hour

Shift: 2 nd and 3 rd Shift available

What’s a typical day as Set-Up Technician? You’ll be:

• Performing start-ups and changeovers of production runs using efficient methods to minimize scrap and downtime
• Setting up and operating Single, Dual, and Tri Extrusion production lines
• Completing multiple tooling changes during an 8-hour shift
• Installing, adjusting, and troubleshooting various die types, including Streamline, Flat Back, and Button dies
• Setting up and operating sizing systems such as Profile Plates in Water Tanks, Vacuum Calibration Systems, and Air Racks with Plates
• Setting up and monitoring in-line lamination systems (PSA and HATS)
• Operating and adjusting in-line cutting equipment, including Fly Knife Cutters, Puller/Cutter Combos, Saws, Guillotine Cutters, and Rotary Cutters
• Performing in-line punching, laser marking, and inkjet printing operations
• Responding promptly to Andon board requests to support production and minimize downtime
• Assisting with troubleshooting and training to ensure team members are meeting customer needs
• Participating in continuous improvement initiatives and maintaining a clean, safe work area following 6S standards
• Communicating effectively with supervisors, maintenance, quality, and other support teams

This job might be an outstanding fit if you:

• Have a high school diploma or GED (required)
• Possess previous manufacturing experience (extrusion setup experience preferred)
• Demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot production equipment
• Can read and follow work instructions, production documents, and specifications
• Are comfortable using basic computer skills, including data entry and navigation of internal software systems
• Communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and management
• Are able to stand, walk, bend, crouch, and perform repetitive movements throughout the shift
• Can lift up to 50 pounds and work safely in a manufacturing environment
