Job summary

Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) in Washington, DC seeks a ServiceNow UI/UX Designer to lead design across the District of Columbia Government’s ServiceNow platform. You will craft end-to-end experiences, drive accessibility-compliant interfaces, and collaborate with stakeholders to improve public service delivery.

Responsibilities include designing modules, portals, and widgets, building design systems, and ensuring technical feasibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Design, HCI, IS, CS, or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of professional UI/UX design experience for enterprise software.
• 4+ years designing within or for the ServiceNow platform (Portal/Now Experience/Workspaces).
• Proficiency with Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch.
• Knowledge of user-centered design, including research, journey mapping, wireframing, and usability testing.
• Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript to collaborate with developers.
• Experience designing for accessibility (Section 508 / WCAG 2.1 AA).
• Strong portfolio of enterprise UX/UI work and ability to present design decisions.

Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end user experiences for ServiceNow modules, portals, and workspaces with wireframes and high-fidelity visuals.
• Collaborate with analysts, developers, and stakeholders to translate requirements into intuitive designs.
• Conduct user research, usability testing, and interviews to validate solutions.
• Build and maintain design systems, style guides, and reusable UI components.
• Configure Service Portal widgets, UI Builder pages, and Now Experience components within platform constraints.
• Ensure designs meet accessibility standards and are tested for compliance.
• Work with developers during build/QA to preserve design fidelity.
• Prepare UX documentation such as personas, journey maps, and IA diagrams.
• Present concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including leadership.
• Stay current on ServiceNow releases and propose design improvements.
• Support change management with clear visual documentation.
