Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior ServiceNow Architect in the United States (Illinois) to design end-to-end platform solutions, lead multi-stakeholder workshops, and guide the software delivery lifecycle with a focus on security and governance. Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end ServiceNow solutions across workflows, integrations, data models, user experiences, security controls, and platform capabilities.
• Translate business requirements into scalable technical architectures and practical implementation approaches.
• Produce architecture diagrams, solution designs, integration specifications, data flows, and technical documentation.
• Lead solution design workshops with product, business, engineering, security, UX, and data stakeholders.
• Ensure solutions align with reference architectures, platform standards, security requirements, and governance controls.
• Identify technical risks, dependencies, and tradeoffs and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Provide architectural guidance throughout the software delivery lifecycle.
• Review technical designs, implementation approaches, and complex code or configuration changes.
• Mentor developers and engineers on ServiceNow architecture, development practices, integration patterns, and platform capabilities.
• Resolve complex technical challenges involving integrations, performance, scalability, security, and maintainability.
• Promote reusable patterns and shared components while avoiding unnecessary customization.
• Design integrations between ServiceNow and enterprise systems using APIs, webhooks, event-driven patterns, middleware, and platform-native capabilities.
• Define data flows, integration contracts, error handling, and system interaction models.
• Collaborate on cross-platform solution design with enterprise architecture, platform engineering, security, and data teams.
• Support platform modernization through scalable architecture patterns, automation, and configuration-first approaches.
• Identify opportunities to use ServiceNow AI capabilities to improve employee experiences and operational efficiency.
• Design governed solutions using Now Assist, Virtual Agent, AI Search, Predictive Intelligence, and workflow automation.
• Apply Responsible AI, security, privacy, evaluation, monitoring, and auditability requirements.
• Evaluate emerging platform capabilities and recommend options to senior architecture and product leaders.
• Collaborate with UX teams, product owners, and business stakeholders on intuitive, accessible experiences.
• Participate in architecture reviews, technical review boards, and platform governance processes.
• Contribute reusable assets, patterns, decision records, and lessons learned.
• Support platform health, technical debt reduction, upgrade readiness, modernization initiatives, and buy-versus-build assessments

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field


• 10 years of professional experience


• 7 years of software engineering, platform engineering, or solution architecture experience


• 5 years of hands-on ServiceNow implementation, development, or architecture experience


• Strong understanding of ServiceNow platform architecture, configuration, development, administration, and upgrade considerations


• Experience with Incident, Problem, Change, Request, Service Catalog, Employee Center, and workflow automation


• Strong integration background including REST APIs, web services, event-driven patterns, middleware, and enterprise integration concepts


• Experience designing solutions spanning multiple applications, systems, data sources, or business processes


• Experience producing architecture diagrams, technical designs, integration specifications, data models, and implementation-ready documentation


• Ability to evaluate technical tradeoffs and communicate recommendations to technical and business stakeholders


• Experience within architecture governance, security, privacy, and software delivery controls


• Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, or similar tools


• Strong communication, collaboration, and facilitation skills


• ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) required

• Preferred: ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD) and/or one or more ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) certifications
