Job summary

Bay Crane Midwest is seeking a Service Writer in Franklin, IN to support service operations. You will manage work orders, coordinate with field staff, and ensure equipment stays road-ready and compliant.

Qualifications

• Experience in office, service, or clerical roles; experience in automotive/heavy equipment is a big plus.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with service management or ERP systems helpful.
• Strong organization, attention to detail, and communication skills essential.
• Team player who can take direction from managers.

Responsibilities

• Open, update, and close service work orders, keeping records accurate and up to date.
• Prepare, track, and close purchase orders for parts and supplies.
• Support the Regional Parts Manager in maintaining parts inventory and records.
• Help schedule and forecast service needs to reduce downtime and improve efficiency.
• Work with field staff to keep our fleet DOT-compliant and road-legal.
• Generate reports on service activity, parts usage, and work order status.
• Communicate with mechanics, managers, and field employees to keep operations moving.
• Provide clerical and administrative support as needed.
