Job summary

CraneWorks is seeking a Service Writer in Brighton, CO to document and manage crane service requests, estimates, parts, and labor. You will liaise between customers and technicians to ensure detailed, timely service orders and invoicing while upholding safety standards.

The ideal candidate has strong communication and analytical skills, experience reading drawings or hydraulic schematics, and proficiency with Excel and Word. A valid driver’s license and a customer-focused mindset are essential.

Qualifications

• 5 years prior and proven Service Writer, Technician and Warranty Administration experience with heavy-duty truck and truck mounted equipment in a service workshop environment.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and hydraulic schematics.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and good PC skills (Excel, Word).

Responsibilities

• Ascertains truck and truck mounted equipment problems and services by listening to customer's description of symptoms, clarifying description of problems, conducting inspections, taking test drives, checking vehicle maintenance records, examining service schedules
• Verifies warranty and service contract coverage by examining records and papers, explaining provisions and exclusions
• Work with manufacturers on warranty claims tracking each one through to completion
• Work closely with the Accounting Department on outstanding claim tracking
• Develops estimates by costing materials, supplies, and labor, calculating customer’s amount due
• Prepares repair orders by describing symptoms, problems, and causes discovered, as well as repairs and services required, obtaining approval signatures
• Maintains customer rapport by explaining estimates and expected return of vehicle, obtaining customer approvals, providing contact numbers, answering questions, and arranging towing
• Maintains vehicle records by recording problems and corrective actions planned
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading manufacturers’ publications
• Enhances organization reputation by taking ownership for new requests and adding value
• Maintains vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting
• Keeps supplies ready with Parts Department on inventory
• Work with Services Management to develop and implement target account objectives
• Quotes prices, bids specifications and maintains records as outlined by management
• Answers customers’ inquiries regarding products, prices, availability and uses
• Updates customers on work progress and timelines
• Monitors customer satisfaction and communicates this to management
• Introduces customers to other services and tracks inventory as needed
