Job summary

Barnhart Crane and Rigging Incorporated’s Crane Sales & Service division is seeking a Service Writer to connect customers with our service team. You will coordinate repairs, communicate recommendations, and provide timely updates throughout the process.

The ideal candidate is organized, mechanically inclined, and customer-focused, capable of handling multiple priorities while delivering exceptional service.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of Service Writer, Service Advisor, or related customer service experience.
• Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
• Proficiency with service management software and Microsoft Office.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to understand repair recommendations.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment Fit for Duty assessment.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for customers regarding service and repair needs.
• Prepare, process, and maintain accurate repair orders, including labor, parts, warranty information, and customer concerns.
• Communicate repair status, timelines, and recommendations to customers throughout the service process.
• Verify warranty coverage and service contract eligibility.
• Recommend and explain additional maintenance or repair services as needed.
• Coordinate with technicians to ensure accurate documentation of repairs and service recommendations.
• Work closely with the Parts Department to source and procure needed parts.
• Partner with administrative staff to ensure accurate invoicing and customer billing.
• Support efforts to improve supplier relationships and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
• Maintain accurate service records and documentation.
• Deliver a high level of customer service while fostering strong customer relationships.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
