Job summary

Big Tex Trailer World is seeking an experienced Service Technician 2 to organize and secure the service areas, perform advanced repairs and fabrication, and engage customers about repairs and installations. The role includes managing shop supplies and maintaining safety standards.

You will sell parts and services, conduct multi-point trailer inspections, and quote work orders. A valid driver’s license and welding proficiency are required; associates degree or trade schooling is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Proven ability to weld (MIG and oxy-acetylene).
• Associates degree or trade school diploma preferred.
• 2–3 years of applicable work experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Perform service, repair, and installation on trailers, truck beds, tow vehicles, and snowplows.
• Maintain service schedule with supervisor.
• Inspect, test, adjust, and repair bearings, lights, wiring, and brake assemblies.
• Quote parts and services; read/write work orders and estimate costs.
• Sell parts and service; assist customers with hookups and safety checks.
• Assemble trailers and move trailers as needed.
• Complete service paperwork accurately and on time.

SUMMARY

The Service Technician 2 is responsible for the organization and safety of the service areas of the facility. Sells parts and performs advanced service repairs / fabrication work. Engages with customers to sell, discuss, and explain repairs, installations, and solutions. Ensures that a proper supply of regularly needed shop supplies is maintained through communication with management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform service, repair, and accessory installation on new and used trailers, truck beds, trailer tow vehicles and snowplows.
• Partner with supervisor to maintain Service Schedule.
• Examine, test, adjust, and repair bearings, lights, wiring, and brake assemblies of trailers and tow vehicles.
• Replace and repair worn and defective parts. Lay out drills, screws, rivets, and welds to repair, replace and/or install parts / accessories on trailers, truck beds, tow vehicles, snowplows, accessories andInstalls wood or metal flooring.
• Perform multi-point inspections to assess customer service and parts needs.
• Confer in person and by phone with customers, write and read work orders. List parts needed, estimate costs, and plan work procedures, using parts lists, technical manuals, diagrams and musthave the ability to quote service work.
• Sell parts and service.
• Help customers hook up a trailer. Perform visual safety inspection (lights, safety chain, decking, etc.)
• Perform warranty service and completes required documentation.
• Complete service paperwork or computer system entry completely and timely.
• Maintain service parts log and submit to management as required.
• Assist in the maintenance of parts inventory for store including purchasing of parts and supplies, receiving PO’s, and Cycle Counts.
• Assemble trailers.
• Park and move Trailers.
• Other duties, as assigned

: QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Proven ability to weld (MIG and oxy-acetylene)
• Valid Driver’s License
• Associates Degree, Trade School Diploma preferred
• 2-3 years applicable work experience preferred
• Must be available to work Monday – Saturday and overtime as needed
