Job summary

Big Tex Trailer World in Waterville, ME is hiring a Service Technician 2 to ensure the service area is organized and safe. You will sell parts, perform advanced repairs and fabrication, and discuss repairs and solutions with customers to meet their needs.

You will inspect bearings, lights, wiring, and brakes on trailers and tow vehicles, quote service work, maintain required paperwork, and help with parts inventory, assembly, and trailer movement as part of the daily duties.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Proven welding ability (MIG and oxy-acetylene).
• Valid Driver’s License is required.
• Associates degree or trade school diploma preferred.
• 2–3 years applicable work experience preferred.
• Must be available to work Monday – Saturday and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform service, repair, and accessory installation on trailers, truck beds, tow vehicles and snowplows.
• Partner with supervisor to maintain Service Schedule.
• Examine, test, adjust, and repair bearings, lights, wiring, and brake assemblies of trailers and tow vehicles.
• Replace and repair worn and defective parts and install components.
• Perform multi-point inspections to assess customer service and parts needs.
• Quote service work and prepare work orders from diagrams and manuals.
• Sell parts and service.
• Help customers hook up a trailer and perform safety inspections.
• Complete warranty service and required documentation.
• Maintain service parts log and assist in inventory.
• Assemble trailers and move trailers as needed.
• Other duties, as assigned.

Summary

The Service Technician 2 is responsible for the organization and safety of the service areas of the facility. Sells parts and performs advanced service repairs / fabrication work. Engages with customers to sell, discuss, and explain repairs, installations, and solutions. Ensures that a proper supply of regularly needed shop supplies is maintained through communication with management.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Perform service, repair, and accessory installation on new and used trailers, truck beds, trailer tow vehicles and snowplows.
• Partner with supervisor to maintain Service Schedule.
• Examine, test, adjust, and repair bearings, lights, wiring, and brake assemblies of trailers and tow vehicles.
• Replace and repair worn and defective parts. Lay out drills, screws, rivets, and welds to repair, replace and/or install parts / accessories on trailers, truck beds, tow vehicles, snowplows, accessories and Installs wood or metal flooring.
• Perform multi-point inspections to assess customer service and parts needs.
• Confer in person and by phone with customers, write and read work orders. List parts needed, estimate costs, and plan work procedures, using parts lists, technical manuals, diagrams and must have the ability to quote service work.
• Sell parts and service.
• Help customers hook up a trailer. Perform visual safety inspection (lights, safety chain, decking, etc.)
• Perform warranty service and completes required documentation.
• Complete service paperwork or computer system entry completely and timely.
• Maintain service parts log and submit to management as required.
• Assist in the maintenance of parts inventory for store including purchasing of parts and supplies, receiving PO’s, and Cycle Counts.
• Assemble trailers.
• Park and move Trailers.
• Other duties, as assigned

• Proven ability to weld (MIG and oxy-acetylene)
• Valid Driver’s License
• Associates Degree, Trade School Diploma preferred
• 2-3 years applicable work experience preferred
