Job summary

The Big Tex Trailer World service team is seeking a Service Technician 2 to ensure safe, organized service areas and high-quality trailer repairs. This role involves selling parts, performing advanced repairs, fabrications, and advising customers on solutions.

Responsibilities include coordinating with the supervisor on the service schedule, inspecting bearings, lights, wiring, brakes, and performing warranty work, while maintaining paperwork and parts inventory.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Welding ability (MIG and oxy-acetylene) preferred.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• Associates/Trade School diploma preferred.
• 2–3 years applicable work experience preferred.
• Availability Monday– Saturday with overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform service, repair, and accessory installation on trailers, truck beds, tow vehicles, and snowplows.
• Partner with supervisor to maintain Service Schedule.
• Inspect and repair bearings, lights, wiring, and brake assemblies.
• Replace worn parts and fabricate/install parts on trailers and equipment.
• Perform multi-point inspections and quote service work to customers.
• Sell parts and service and assist customers with hookups and safety checks.
• Handle warranty service and complete required documentation.
• Complete service paperwork and maintain parts inventory records.
• Assist in maintaining shop supplies and purchasing.
• Assemble and move trailers as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Summary

The Service Technician 2 is responsible for the organization and safety of the service areas of the facility. Sells parts and performs advanced service repairs / fabrication work. Engages with customers to sell, discuss, and explain repairs, installations, and solutions. Ensures that a proper supply of regularly needed shop supplies is maintained through communication with management.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Perform service, repair, and accessory installation on new and used trailers, truck beds, trailer tow vehicles and snowplows.
• Partner with supervisor to maintain Service Schedule.
• Examine, test, adjust, and repair bearings, lights, wiring, and brake assemblies of trailers and tow vehicles.
• Replace and repair worn and defective parts. Lay out drills, screws, rivets, and welds to repair, replace and/or install parts / accessories on trailers, truck beds, tow vehicles, snowplows, accessories and Installs wood or metal flooring.
• Perform multi-point inspections to assess customer service and parts needs.
• Confer in person and by phone with customers, write and read work orders. List parts needed, estimate costs, and plan work procedures, using parts lists, technical manuals, diagrams and must have the ability to quote service work.
• Sell parts and service.
• Help customers hook up a trailer. Perform visual safety inspection (lights, safety chain, decking, etc.)
• Perform warranty service and completes required documentation.
• Complete service paperwork or computer system entry completely and timely.
• Maintain service parts log and submit to management as required.
• Assist in the maintenance of parts inventory for store including purchasing of parts and supplies, receiving PO's, and Cycle Counts.
• Assemble trailers.
• Park and move Trailers.
• Other duties, as assigned

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Proven ability to weld (MIG and oxy-acetylene)
• Valid Driver's License
• Associates Degree, Trade School Diploma preferred
• 2-3 years applicable work experience preferred
• Must be available to work Monday - Saturday and overtime as needed
