Job summary

Big Tex Trailer World is seeking an experienced Service Technician 2 to maintain clean and safe service areas, perform advanced repairs, and assist customers with installations and solutions for trailers, truck beds, and tow vehicles.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED.
• Proven welding ability (MIG and oxy-acetylene).
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Associates degree or trade school diploma preferred.
• 2–3 years of relevant work experience preferred.
• Availability to work Monday through Saturday and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform service, repair, and accessory installation on trailers, truck beds, tow vehicles and snowplows.
• Coordinate with supervisor to maintain the service schedule.
• Inspect and repair bearings, lights, wiring, and brake assemblies on trailers and tow vehicles.
• Replace worn parts and install parts/accessories on trailers, truck beds, tow vehicles, snowplows, and related components.
• Lay out drills, screws, rivets, and welds for repairs and installations.
• Conduct multi-point inspections to assess customer needs and parts requirements.
• Communicate with customers, write/read work orders, and quote service work.
• Sell parts and service.
• Assist customers in hooking up trailers and perform visual safety inspections.
• Perform warranty service and complete required documentation.
• Maintain service paperwork and inventory; assist with store parts purchasing.
• Assemble trailers and move/park them.
• Other duties as assigned.

SUMMARY

The Service Technician 2 is responsible for the organization and safety of the service areas of the facility. Sells parts and performs advanced service repairs / fabrication work. Engages with customers to sell, discuss, and explain repairs, installations, and solutions. Ensures that a proper supply of regularly needed shop supplies is maintained through communication with management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform service, repair, and accessory installation on new and used trailers, truck beds, trailer tow vehicles and snowplows.
• Partner with supervisor to maintain Service Schedule.
• Examine, test, adjust, and repair bearings, lights, wiring, and brake assemblies of trailers and tow vehicles.
• Replace and repair worn and defective parts. Lay out drills, screws, rivets, and welds to repair, replace and/or install parts / accessories on trailers, truck beds, tow vehicles, snowplows, accessories and Installs wood or metal flooring.
• Perform multi-point inspections to assess customer service and parts needs.
• Confer in person and by phone with customers, write and read work orders. List parts needed, estimate costs, and plan work procedures, using parts lists, technical manuals, diagrams and musthave the ability to quote service work.
• Sell parts and service.
• Help customers hook up a trailer. Perform visual safety inspection (lights, safety chain, decking, etc.)
• Perform warranty service and completes required documentation.
• Complete service paperwork or computer system entry completely and timely.
• Maintain service parts log and submit to management as required.
• Assist in the maintenance of parts inventory for store including purchasing of parts and supplies, receiving PO’s, and Cycle Counts.
• Assemble trailers.
• Park and move Trailers.
• Other duties, as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Proven ability to weld (MIG and oxy-acetylene)
• Valid Driver’s License
• Associates Degree, Trade School Diploma preferred
• 2-3 years applicable work experience preferred
• Must be available to work Monday – Saturday and overtime as needed
