Job summary

Big Tex Trailer World is hiring a Service Technician 2 to ensure safe, organized service areas and to perform advanced repairs, fabrication, and parts sales. You will engage with customers to discuss repairs, installations, and solutions, while maintaining shop supplies and safety standards.

The role requires welding skills (MIG and oxy-acetylene), a valid driver's license, and the ability to work Monday–Saturday with potential overtime.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Proven welding ability (MIG and oxy-acetylene).
• Valid driver's license required.
• Associates degree or trade school diploma preferred.
• 2–3 years of applicable work experience preferred.
• Must be available to work Monday–Saturday and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform service, repair, and accessory installation on trailers, truck beds, tow vehicles, and snowplows.
• Maintain the service schedule in coordination with supervisor.
• Inspect and repair bearings, lights, wiring, and brake assemblies.
• Replace worn parts and install parts/accessories on trailers or trucks.
• Conduct multi-point inspections and communicate with customers to estimate costs and plan procedures.
• Sell parts and service; assist customers in hooking up trailers and perform safety inspections.
• Complete warranty work and required documentation; manage service paperwork.
• Maintain parts inventory and assist in store operations including purchasing and cycle counts.
• Assemble and move trailers; perform other duties as assigned.

Summary

The Service Technician 2 is responsible for the organization and safety of the service areas of the facility. Sells parts and performs advanced service repairs / fabrication work. Engages with customers to sell, discuss, and explain repairs, installations, and solutions. Ensures that a proper supply of regularly needed shop supplies is maintained through communication with management.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Perform service, repair, and accessory installation on new and used trailers, truck beds, trailer tow vehicles and snowplows.
• Partner with supervisor to maintain Service Schedule.
• Examine, test, adjust, and repair bearings, lights, wiring, and brake assemblies of trailers and tow vehicles.
• Replace and repair worn and defective parts. Lay out drills, screws, rivets, and welds to repair, replace and/or install parts / accessories on trailers, truck beds, tow vehicles, snowplows, accessories and Installs wood or metal flooring.
• Perform multi-point inspections to assess customer service and parts needs.
• Confer in person and by phone with customers, write and read work orders. List parts needed, estimate costs, and plan work procedures, using parts lists, technical manuals, diagrams and must have the ability to quote service work.
• Sell parts and service.
• Help customers hook up a trailer. Perform visual safety inspection (lights, safety chain, decking, etc.)
• Perform warranty service and completes required documentation.
• Complete service paperwork or computer system entry completely and timely.
• Maintain service parts log and submit to management as required.
• Assist in the maintenance of parts inventory for store including purchasing of parts and supplies, receiving PO's, and Cycle Counts.
• Assemble trailers.
• Park and move Trailers.
• Other duties, as assigned

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Proven ability to weld (MIG and oxy-acetylene)
• Valid Driver's License
• Associates Degree, Trade School Diploma preferred
• 2-3 years applicable work experience preferred
• Must be available to work Monday - Saturday and overtime as needed
