Job summary

Southern States Material Handling is seeking a Service Manager to lead service operations, support technicians, and manage branch service activities in a fast-paced environment. You will train staff, optimize processes, and ensure high-quality, cost-effective service while upholding the company’s standards.

The role requires 2–5 years of leadership experience in service, strong communication, and a customer-focused approach.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of management or leadership experience in a service environment preferred
• Experience as a Road Service Technician is a plus
• Proficiency with MS Office including Word, Excel, Outlook
• Windows XP knowledge preferred
• Demonstrate strong time management, organizational, and follow-up skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Customer-focused with exceptional customer service skills

Responsibilities

• Support Technicians, service department staff, and branch management
• Provide training on policies, procedures, timekeeping, and safety
• Eliminate waste and lost time through training and coaching
• Maintain high company standards and protect customers’ interests
• Assist team members via phone and in person
• Manage work-in-progress reporting and delegate tasks
• Direct service coordinator and dispatch team; set goals and track time/attendance
• Encourage superior customer communications across the service team
• Communicate effectively with diverse personalities
• Collaborate with customers for problem resolution and equipment maintenance
• Develop new methods and procedures for the service department
• Assist in technician performance reviews and service team evaluations
• Ensure technician timecards are accurate and complete
• Monitor job orders and billing; review daily reports
• Conduct van inspections after technician meetings
• Participate in monthly team meetings
• Provide technical input to Branch Operations Manager
• Work Monday through Friday daytime hours
