Job summary

The Larson Group Peterbilt in Greensboro, NC is seeking an experienced Service Writer to join our service team. You will greet customers, diagnose service needs, and coordinate repair work with technicians and the warranty department.

You will help open and close work orders, communicate progress to customers, and ensure accurate documentation. This safety-sensitive position requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a commitment to customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• College degree or trade school certificate preferred.
• Experience in dealership service shop environment preferred.
• Safety-sensitive position.

Responsibilities

• Open and close work orders with complete information.
• Record, adjust and report mechanics time for work orders and payroll.
• Help cover phone calls for the Service Department.
• Resolve customer complaints when possible.
• Schedule appointments.
• Supervise and assist technicians with diagnosis and repairs.
• Assist with warranty repair paper flow.
• Check in new trucks and complete forms.
• Coordinate with parts department on special orders and sublet repairs.
• Instruct next shift's service writer on instructions and appointments.
• Keep Service Manager informed of customer issues and technician problems.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

This person will assist in the coordination and communications of the service department as well as perform a variety of tasks with the warranty department.

Responsibilities:

• Open and close work orders providing as much information as possible.
• Record, adjust and report mechanics time for work orders and payroll.
• Help cover phone calls for the Service Department.
• Try to resolve customer complaints.
• Schedule appointments.
• Supervise and assist technicians with the diagnosis and repairs of their jobs.
• Assist with warranty repair paper flow.
• Check in new trucks delivered to the shop and complete the proper forms.
• Consult with the parts department on special order parts and sublet repairs.
• Instruct the following shift's service writer on any special instructions and appointments.
• Keep Service Manager informed of all customer complaints and technician problems.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Should possess a High School Diploma.
• A College degree or a certificate from a trade school is preferred, but not required.
• Experience in dealership service shop environment is strongly preferred but not required.
