Job summary

The Larson Group Peterbilt is seeking an experienced Service Writer to join our team in New York. You will greet customers, consult on problems, and coordinate service and warranty paper flow.

The role involves monitoring work orders, communicating with technicians, and ensuring smooth shop operations. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, dealership service experience preferred, and strong communication and time-management skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required or equivalent.
• College degree or trade certificate preferred but not required.
• Experience in a dealership service shop is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Open and close work orders with detailed information.
• Record, adjust and report mechanics' time for work orders/payroll.
• Assist in handling service department phone calls.
• Aim to resolve customer complaints.
• Schedule appointments for service customers.
• Supervise and assist technicians with diagnoses and repairs.
• Assist with warranty repair paper flow.
• Check in new trucks and complete forms.
• Consult with parts on special order parts and sublet repairs.
• Instruct next shift's service writer on special instructions and appointments.
• Keep Service Manager informed of customer complaints and technician problems.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

This person will assist in the coordination and communications of the service department as well as perform a variety of tasks with the warranty department.

Responsibilities:

• Open and close work orders providing as much information as possible.
• Record, adjust and report mechanics time for work orders and payroll.
• Help cover phone calls for the Service Department.
• Try to resolve customer complaints.
• Schedule appointments.
• Supervise and assist technicians with the diagnosis and repairs of their jobs.
• Assist with warranty repair paper flow.
• Check in new trucks delivered to the shop and complete the proper forms.
• Consult with the parts department on special order parts and sublet repairs.
• Instruct the following shift's service writer on any special instructions and appointments.
• Keep Service Manager informed of all customer complaints and technician problems.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Should possess a High School Diploma.
• A College degree or a certificate from a trade school is preferred, but not required.
• Experience in dealership service shop environment is strongly preferred but not required.
