Job summary

The Larson Group Peterbilt is seeking an experienced Service Writer to join our team. You will greet and consult service customers, coordinate the service department communications, and assist in the warranty department. The 11am–8:30pm shift offers opportunities for advancement and comprehensive benefits.

Primary duties include handling work orders, tracking technician time, answering phones, scheduling, and ensuring smooth warranty flow. Prior dealership service experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma.
• College degree or trade school certificate preferred but not required.
• Experience in dealership service shop environment preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Open and close work orders with detailed information.
• Record, adjust and report mechanics time for work orders and payroll.
• Help cover phone calls for the Service Department.
• Resolve customer complaints when possible.
• Schedule appointments.
• Supervise and assist technicians with diagnoses and repairs.
• Assist with warranty repair paper flow.
• Check in new trucks and complete forms.
• Coordinate with parts on special order parts and sublet repairs.
• Instruct next shift's service writer on special instructions and appointments.
• Keep Service Manager informed of customer complaints and technician problems.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

• Open and close work orders providing as much information as possible.
• Record, adjust and report mechanics time for work orders and payroll.
• Help cover phone calls for the Service Department.
• Try to resolve customer complaints.
• Schedule appointments.
• Supervise and assist technicians with the diagnosis and repairs of their jobs.
• Assist with warranty repair paper flow.
• Check in new trucks delivered to the shop and complete the proper forms.
• Consult with the parts department on special order parts and sublet repairs.
• Instruct the following shift's service writer on any special instructions and appointments.
• Keep Service Manager informed of all customer complaints and technician problems.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
