Job summary

Hilton Garden Inn Boston/Waltham seeks a friendly Server to create memorable dining experiences. You will prepare tables, greet guests, present menus, and guide them through our modern menu offerings.

This full-time role includes benefits eligibility, travel discounts, and advancement opportunities through our Management Development Program. Starting wage is $15.00+ per hour with room to grow.

Qualifications

• Prior food service experience is ideal, but training is provided.
• Excellent English communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal abilities and a passion for guest service.
• Ability to handle cash transactions accurately.

Responsibilities

• Prepare restaurant tables with attention to sanitation and order.
• Attend to customers upon entrance to the restaurant.
• Present menus and be knowledgeable about items.
• Serve and assist guests with selecting food and beverages.
• Verify guests' identification for alcohol service.
• Know menu prices, items, and daily specials.
• Make recommendations based on guest preferences.
• Take and serve food and drink orders.
• Arrange and reset table settings.
• Keep tables clean and tidy at all times.
• Deliver checks and collect payments.
• Check back with tables to offer additional items.
• Coordinate with serving and kitchen staff.
• Adhere to health department rules and customer service guidelines.
• Dress in appropriate event staff uniform and maintain professional appearance.
• Refill condiments and server station supplies; close shifts per directions.
• Act with integrity in every decision.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare restaurant tables with special attention to sanitation and order
• Attend to customers upon entrance to the restaurant
• Present menus and be knowledgeable of menu contents, recipes, and restaurant offerings
• Serve and assist customers with selecting food/beverages as needed
• Verify guests' identification to ensure they meet age requirements for alcohol consumption
• Have basic knowledge of menu prices, composition of items, preparation techniques, and time of preparation. Must be familiar with daily specials and offers to guests
• Make suggestions based on guest preferences
• Take and serve food/drinks orders
• Arrange table settings
• Keep tables clean and tidy at all times
• Deliver checks and collect payments
• Return to each table periodically to ascertain whether additional items are desired
• Cooperate and communicate with all serving and kitchen staff
• Adhere to all relevant health department rules/regulations and all customer service guidelines
• Dress in appropriate event staff uniform at all times, while also maintaining professional appearance
• Refill condiments and server station supplies at end of each shift. May require performing other shift closing tasks to be determined by Director of Food & Beverage
• Act with the highest level of integrity in every decision

Requirements:

• Prior Food Service experience is ideal, but willing to train the right person. We are dedicated to thoroughly training & developing our team into hotel leaders through interactive teamwork in a positive work environment!
• Knowledge of retail math for handling cash transactions
• A genuine passion for the culinary arts, food, and beverage, with a willingness to continuously learn and grow
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build genuine connections with guests and colleagues
• Familiarity with basic math skills for measuring ingredients and calculating drink prices
• Ability to handle food safely and follow proper food handling procedures
• Ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure, ensuring efficient service even during peak dining hour
• Excellent English communication skills and able to read, write and speak fluently

In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form (Form I-9) upon hire

$15.00+/hr.
