Job summary

Canopy by Hilton Memphis Downtown Beale Street is seeking a friendly Server to create memorable dining experiences. You will greet guests, present menus, guide selections, and provide attentive service in a fast-paced environment.

Role emphasizes teamwork, guest engagement, and adherence to health and safety standards. Training and growth opportunities are available through our Management Development Program and other pathways.

Qualifications

• Prior Food Service experience is ideal, but willingness to train the right person.
• Knowledge of retail math for handling cash transactions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to connect with guests and colleagues.
• Excellent English communication skills, reading, writing and speaking fluently.

Responsibilities

• Prepare restaurant tables with sanitation and order in mind.
• Attend to customers upon entrance to the restaurant.
• Present menus and knowledge of offerings to guests.
• Serve and assist guests with food and beverage selections as needed.
• Verify guests' identification for alcohol service.
• Ensure knowledge of prices, items, and daily specials.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare restaurant tables with special attention to sanitation and order
• Attend to customers upon entrance to the restaurant
• Present menus and be knowledgeable of menu contents, recipes, and restaurant offerings
• Serve and assist customers with selecting food/beverages as needed
• Verify guests' identification to ensure they meet age requirements for alcohol consumption
• Have basic knowledge of menu prices, composition of items, preparation techniques, and time of preparation. Must be familiar with daily specials and offers to guests
• Make suggestions based on guest preferences
• Take and serve food/drinks orders
• Arrange table settings
• Keep tables clean and tidy at all times
• Deliver checks and collect payments
• Return to each table periodically to ascertain whether additional items are desired
• Cooperate and communicate with all serving and kitchen staff
• Adhere to all relevant health department rules/regulations and all customer service guidelines
• Dress in appropriate event staff uniform at all times, while also maintaining professional appearance
• Refill condiments and server station supplies at end of each shift. May require performing other shift closing tasks to be determined by Director of Food & Beverage
• Act with the highest level of integrity in every decision

Requirements:

• Prior Food Service experience is ideal, but willing to train the right person. We are dedicated to thoroughly training & developing our team into hotel leaders through interactive teamwork in a positive work environment!
• Knowledge of retail math for handling cash transactions
• A genuine passion for the culinary arts, food, and beverage, with a willingness to continuously learn and grow
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build genuine connections with guests and colleagues
• Familiarity with basic math skills for measuring ingredients and calculating drink prices
• Ability to handle food safely and follow proper food handling procedures
• Ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure, ensuring efficient service even during peak dining hour
• Excellent English communication skills and able to read, write and speak fluently
