Job summary

Northrop Grumman Corp. is seeking a Principal Structural Engineer for positions in Manhattan Beach, CA or Roy, Utah. The role involves developing structural specifications for metals, composites and other materials, plus extensive dynamic and static analyses to support the Sentinel program.

Qualified candidates hold a STEM degree with 5+ years of experience or a related advanced degree, US citizenship and a DoD Secret Clearance. A relocation package is available to eligible applicants.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Science or STEM with 5 years of experience; or Master's with 3 years; or PhD with 0 years.
• U.S. Citizen with active DoD Secret Clearance; investigation date within 5 years.
• Experience running dynamic and static structural analyses.
• Proficiency in MATLAB for analysis and data manipulation.
• Experience with ABAQUS, ANSYS or FEMAP is preferred; CAD/PLM tools listed above are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes, researches and develops structural engineering specifications for metals, composites and other materials.
• Assesses damage tolerance, durability, design allowables and structural modeling.
• Performs dynamics, loads, stability, fatigue and thermal analyses as needed.
• Collaborates with systems engineering, design and test teams within an integrated environment.
