Job summary

Unity is seeking a senior software engineer to join the XR Integration team. You will help build foundational XR support in the Unity Engine, collaborating with partners to enable experiences on AR glasses, VR headsets, and emerging platforms.

You will work on performance, rendering, and platform compatibility, mentor teammates, and contribute to a culture of high-quality code. This role emphasizes collaboration and technical leadership across distributed teams.

Qualifications

• Proven experience delivering software solutions that scale in large, complex products.
• Experience with AR/VR/XR platforms and OpenXR or related standards.
• Strong C++ and C# programming abilities.
• 3D math proficiency essential for rendering and physics.
• Experience using profiling/debugging tools to identify performance issues.
• Willingness to leverage AI code generation while preserving architecture integrity.

Responsibilities

• Implement new XR technologies and features in the Unity engine, collaborating with XR and external partners.
• Integrate third-party SDKs and work with device partners on next-gen XR support.
• Research and design solutions for performance, rendering, and platform compatibility in XR.
• Ensure quality through code reviews, debugging, and automated tests; coordinate QA.
• Investigate and fix XR bugs to enable customers to ship experiences.
• Mentor engineers and promote high-quality code practices.
