Job summary

Liberty Mutual Insurance workers’ compensation team is hiring a dedicated Claims Specialist to review, analyze, and process moderately complex to complex claims using the latest technology. You will determine liability and compensability, evaluate losses, negotiate settlements, and manage claims involving bodily injury or property loss.

Depending on experience, roles include Claims Specialist II or Senior Claims Specialist I/II, with on‑site work twice a month and potential for 100% remote work

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in workers’ compensation claims handling.
• Direct claims-handling experience from investigation through resolution.
• Knowledge of claims investigation techniques, medical terminology, and legal aspects of claims.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct investigations of claims, including interviewing insureds, witnesses, and claimants, collecting documentation, and securing evidence.
• Determine need for, and engage independent adjusters, cause-origin experts, and independent medical examiners.
• Refer claims to subrogation group or Special Investigations Unit as appropriate.
• Assess policy coverage, notify insureds of issues, determine and establish reserve requirements, and adjust reserves during claim processing.
• Assess actual damages, conduct negotiations within authority limits, and settle claims.
• Coordinate litigation activities for assigned claims, ensuring timely and cost-effective resolution; attend trials as a company representative.
• Act as senior technical professional on the team, assisting with escalated issues.
• Mentor and train new team members.
• Participate in Quality Review processes.
• Participate in Suit Committees, Roundtables, Arbitrations, Mediations, field investigations, and closed file reviews.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
