Job summary

Travelers Insurance is seeking an Associate Senior Counsel to handle litigation for policyholders and the company, with opportunities to independently manage a caseload of moderate to higher complexity matters.

You will leverage trial experience, conduct rigorous research, draft substantive pleadings, and provide strategic recommendations to insured clients and claims partners, mentoring junior staff and coordinating with experts.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of insurance defense litigation experience as a practicing attorney.
• Proven aptitude for trying cases to a jury; track record of jury trials.
• Strong technical knowledge in practice areas; ability to communicate complex information.

Responsibilities

• Handle a caseload of moderate to higher exposure cases, including Major Case matters as applicable.
• Leverage pre-trial and trial experience to try cases to verdict or negotiate resolutions.
• Conduct advanced legal research and strong persuasive writing and presentation.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery and other legal documents.
• Attend court events, depositions, and other appointments independently.
• Provide in-depth case analysis and recommendations to insured clients and Claim partners.
• Collaborate with expert witnesses and consultants to develop case strategies.
• Build and maintain strong client and partner relationships.
• Provide internal training and updates to insured clients and Claim partners.
• Mentor other attorneys and support staff.
• Utilize technology and case management systems; travel as required.
