Job summary

The role requires 2+ years in workers' compensation claims handling, a BS/BA or equivalent, and active licenses.

Qualifications

• BS/BA degree or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in claims adjustment, general insurance or formal claims training.
• Required to obtain and maintain all applicable licenses.
• Continuing education courses leading to industry certifications preferred (e.g., AEI, IIA, CPCU).
• Knowledge of claims investigation techniques, medical terminology and legal aspects of claims.

Responsibilities

• Plans and conducts investigations of claims to analyze coverage and determine liability/compensability.
• Determines need for independent adjusters, cause/origin experts and independent medical examiners.
• Refers to subrogation group or Special Investigations Unit as appropriate.
• Assesses policy coverage and notifies insured of issues; establishes reserves and adjusts as necessary.
• Negotiates settlements within assigned authority limits.
• Coordinates litigation activities and attends trials as a company representative.
• Acts as senior technical advisor and mentors team members.
• Participates in Quality Review, Suit Committees, Roundtables, Arbitrations, Mediations and field investigations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
