Job summary

Liberty Mutual Insurance seeks a Senior Workers Compensation Claims Specialist to join the West Region team. The role reviews, analyzes and processes moderately to highly complex claims involving bodily injury or property loss, with decisions on liability, compensability, and settlements.

The Senior Specialist may assign new claims, provide technical direction, and monitor caseloads. The position may be classified as Senior Claims Specialist I or II, with remote work potential for CA/WA and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent training with 3–5 years of related work experience.
• Advanced knowledge of claims handling, liability, and state tort laws.
• License(s) required to be obtained and maintained.

Responsibilities

• Plans and conducts investigations to analyze coverage and determine liability, compensability and damages.
• Engages independent adjusters, cause/origin experts and medical examiners as needed.
• Directs referrals to subrogation or Special Investigations Unit when appropriate.
• Assesses policy coverage and establishes reserves; adjusts reserves during processing.
• Negotiates settlements within authority limits and coordinates litigation activities.
• Mentors and trains new team members; participates in quality reviews and committees.
