Job summary

Acorn Marketing seeks an experienced Web Developer with strong WordPress expertise to join our agency team in Grand Haven, Michigan. The role focuses on building and maintaining client websites, aligning with brand standards and marketing objectives.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of hands-on WordPress development, PHP proficiency, API integrations, and experience with page builders like Visual Composer/Elementor, plus strong SEO and accessibility knowledge.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on WordPress development experience.
• Advanced proficiency in WordPress site development, customization, maintenance and optimization.
• Proficiency in PHP and building WordPress functions.
• Ability to write clean, readable, maintainable code.
• Experience developing or modifying custom WordPress themes, plugins or admin interfaces.
• Experience integrating APIs and third-party tools with WordPress websites.
• Proficient with version control and standard dev practices.
• Experience managing hosting environments (cPanel/WHM).
• Experience with Visual Composer/VisualBakery and Elementor or similar builders.
• Strong understanding of accessibility, performance optimization and standards (WCAG/HIPAA).
• Strong technical SEO and structured data practices, including schema markup and AI/LLM trends.
• Experience using Google Analytics, GTM to optimize sites.
• Experience with Mailchimp or similar email platforms.
• Excellent communication and ability to explain technical concepts to varied audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and manage competing priorities.
