Job summary

SpecterOps Inc. is seeking an experienced Web Developer with deep WordPress expertise to support our public-facing web presence. You will work with our Marketing team to build and refine pages, implement new features, and ensure our WordPress environment is well-maintained and scalable.

You should be a self-directed, clear communicator who can own deliverables end-to-end, both for new features and for refining an existing codebase. Remote work with quarterly in-person events is available.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional web development experience with significant WordPress focus.
• Hands-on experience building and customizing WordPress themes and plugins from scratch.
• Experience with WordPress VIP hosting, deployment workflows, and code standards.
• Familiarity with page builders like Elementor or Gutenberg; strong SEO and performance focus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain WordPress-based properties including themes/plugins.
• Build landing pages and site sections in collaboration with Marketing and Design.
• Optimize performance: Core Web Vitals, page speed, and SEO best practices.
• Manage WordPress configuration, updates, and security hardening.
• Integrate third-party tools (CRM/marketing analytics) and APIs.
• Troubleshoot front-end and back-end issues; ensure high-quality releases.

Job description

SpecterOps is seeking an experienced Web Developer with deep WordPress expertise to support the ongoing development, optimization, and maintenance of our public-facing web presence. You will work closely with our Marketing team to build and refine web pages, implement new functionality, and ensure our WordPress environment is well-maintained and scalable.

We're looking for a self-directed developer who communicates clearly, manages their own workload effectively, and takes ownership of deliverables from start to finish. You should be equally comfortable building new features from scratch and jumping into an existing codebase to troubleshoot and improve it. The ideal candidate will bring both technical depth and an eye for design to every engagement.

Hourly Range: $75 – $85/hour, commensurate with experience

Location:

This position is remote, based in the U.S. with optional travel quarterly for in-person company events and other ad hoc meetings.

• Candidate must be authorized to work and reside in the United States; we do not currently sponsor immigration visas.

• Collaborate asynchronously with a remote-first team across Marketing, Design, and Operations

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional web development experience, with significant focus on WordPress
• Hands-on experience building and customizing WordPress themes and plugins from scratch
• Experience with WordPress VIP, including familiarity with its hosting environment, deployment workflows, and code standards
• Familiarity with page builders such as Elementor, Gutenberg, or similar tools
• Experience integrating HubSpot, Salesforce, Google Analytics, or similar platforms
• Understanding of web performance optimization, Core Web Vitals, and technical SEO
• Solid grasp of WordPress security best practices and site hardening
• Experience with Git-based version control workflows
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote environment
• Strong written communication skills for async collaboration

• Familiarity with headless WordPress or REST API integrations
