Job summary

Amazon Kuiper Manufacturing Enterprises LLC is seeking a Communication Systems Research Scientist to own RRM and radio access design for Amazon Leo's NTN-based D2D system, delivering 3GPP-compliant service to unmodified handsets. You will align L1/L2 with RRC/NAS, CU/DU, and integrate AI-driven development and testing in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of professional experience in wireless communications at system or implementation level.
• Demonstrated experience in radio resource management for 3GPP systems (LTE, 5G NR or NTN).
• Experience developing and running link-level or system-level wireless simulators in MATLAB, Python or C++, using agentic AI as a tool for development, test and debugging.

Responsibilities

• Research, design and specify RRM algorithms for 3GPP-based D2D system, mapping QoS to scheduler behavior.
• Treat beam management as part of joint resource optimization with MU-MIMO considerations.
• Define the RRM framework for NTN with large time-varying delay and Doppler constraints.
• Design mobility and service continuity for satellites acting as base stations.
• Specify L1/L2 elements with PHY team for Doppler, PRACH, and coverage enhancements.
• Ensure coherence with networking layers (RRC/NAS, 5GC/EPC, transport).
• Develop link- and system-level simulators capturing constellation dynamics and traffic models.
• Translate research into system requirements and coordinate with cross-functional teams through trials.
