Job summary

Amazon Inc. is seeking a Sr. Communication Systems Research Scientist to own the RRM and D2D system design for Amazon Leo. You will analyze beam and cell capacity, spectral efficiency, latency and service availability, and work across L1/L2 up through 5GC interworking.

You will lead RRM research for 3GPP NTN, addressing time-varying delays, Doppler, and cross-layer integration, while collaborating with modem, payload, RF, and testbed teams to bring ideas from simulation to field trials.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
7+ years professional experience in wireless communications at system or implementation level.
Experience in radio resource management for 3GPP systems (LTE, 5G NR or NTN).
Experience developing and running link-level or system-level wireless simulators in Matlab, Python or C++, using agentic AI for development, test and debugging.

Responsibilities

Research, design and specify RRM algorithms for the D2D system across MAC, scheduling, power control and QoS.
Treat beam management as part of joint resource optimization in MU‑MIMO scenarios.
Define RRM framework for NTN with time-varying delay and Doppler effects.
Design mobility and service continuity for satellite-based cells and handovers.
Specify L1/L2 support elements with PHY considerations and coverage enhancements.
Coordinate with modem, payload, RF, ASIC and Testbed teams through integration and trials.
Represent Amazon Leo in standards bodies and contribute patents/publications.
