Job summary

Amazon Kuiper Manufacturing Enterprises LLC in Austin, TX seeks a Sr. Communication Systems Design Engineer to design, develop, and integrate communication payload and ground terminal systems for the Leo constellation.

The role focuses on advanced L1/L2 algorithms, multi-user MIMO, SDR-based proofs, and close collaboration with RF, ASIC, SW, and testbed teams to advance development and testing activities.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master's degree with 5+ years of quantitative field research experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience in wireless communications at the system or implementation level.

Responsibilities

• Design L1/L2 algorithms for the Amazon Leo system (MU‑MIMO).
• Develop proofs of concept for payload components using SDR, FPGAs, and general-purpose processors.
• Collaborate with ASIC teams to create L1/L2 HW accelerators for SoCs.
• Provide specifications and collaborate on embedded L1/L2 HW/SW architectures.
• Develop link-level and system-level simulators; assess performance improvements.
• Create testbeds with RF/IF components, considering link budgets.
